Carpentry and small building repairs on the Costa del Sol
Woodwork and finishing jobs that rarely fit neatly into one trade: easing a door swollen by damp, changing a lock, relaying lifted decking or making a wall presentable again after a leak.
The coastal climate shapes carpentry work here: salt-laden humidity, sharp swings between a property closed for six months and a season of heavy use, and a great deal of exterior timber under strong sun. Doors swell, ironmongery seizes, and decking and pergolas lose their finish sooner than owners expect.
We take on both standalone jobs and the making-good that follows another repair. When a leak means opening up a partition wall or pulling out a sink unit, the job is not finished when the water stops: things have to go back, be adjusted and leave the home usable.
Typical jobs
- Internal and external doors that rub, will not close or have dropped on their hinges
- Replacing and adjusting locks, handles and ironmongery
- Fitted wardrobes: dropped doors, runners and shelves
- Shutters, louvres and fly screens
- Decking, skirting and floor trims
- Furniture assembly and wall fixings
- Repairing minor damage after a leak or small works
What helps to have ready before the visit
A few minutes of preparation often saves a second visit.
- Photos of the item and its surroundings, including a wider view
- Rough measurements if a part needs replacing
- The make or model of the lock or fitting, if visible
- Clear access: move objects and furniture away from the area
- Tell us if the building has restricted hours for works
- Confirm who will open the property if the owner is not in Spain
How the job is organised
- 1
Description and photos
Tell us what is wrong and send images. That lets us judge whether special materials or a measuring visit are needed.
- 2
Assessment and appointment
We agree a date and explain the expected scope before starting, including the parts that can only be confirmed once something is taken apart.
- 3
Work and clear-up
The work is carried out, checked with you, and leftover material is taken away.
Where we work
We cover the stretch between Málaga and Estepona: Torremolinos, Benalmádena, Fuengirola, Mijas, Calahonda, Marbella and San Pedro de Alcántara. In gated urbanisations it helps to notify the concierge in advance so access does not delay the appointment.
Carpentry questions
Do you take on full renovations?
We focus on repairs and contained jobs. If the work needs a multi-trade renovation with permits, we say so when assessing the case.
Can you repair a door swollen by damp?
Often yes, by easing the leaf and adjusting the ironmongery. If the timber has decayed deeper down, we explain that before starting and discuss replacement.
Do you supply materials?
We can supply them or work with materials you already have; just mention it when describing the job.
Can you work in holiday rentals between bookings?
Yes, that is a common situation. Tell us the window between check-out and check-in so we can fit the visit in.
